Sedgwick County Jail Phone Calls, Visitation and Mail: 2026 Rates and Hours

Sedgwick County Jail phone calls and visitation rates and hours for 2026

Visits are by video, booked through JailATM at least 24 hours ahead. Letters go to a post office box in Arkansas, where they are scanned and delivered on a screen. Every rate and hour below comes from the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s inmate communications page, checked in October 2026.

If the faster answer is getting the person home, Case Bail Bonds is three blocks from the jail at 705 N Broadway. Call (316) 900-1667.

How do Sedgwick County Jail phone calls work?

Inmates at the Adult Detention Facility, 141 W Elm, place calls from the housing units. To receive those calls you need an account with ICSolutions, the jail’s phone provider. Calls are either prepaid from the inmate’s phone account or collect to the person who answers.

Ways to contact an inmate including Sedgwick County Jail phone calls, video visitation, messages and mail

Three rules matter most:

  • You cannot call an inmate. In an emergency a facility supervisor takes the message, confirms it and tells the inmate, who then calls back. After a death in the family, the jail chaplain notifies the inmate once the death is verified.
  • Every call is recorded. The Sheriff states that all outgoing inmate calls are monitored and recorded by law enforcement and may be used as evidence. Do not talk about the case, the arrest or the other people involved. Talk about the bond, the kids and the court date.
  • Two calls a week are free. Under the Keep Families Connected program, each inmate gets two free calls and two free messages every week.

Rules for every visit:

  1. Book at least 24 hours in advance.
  2. First time remote users must be approved by detention staff, and approvals are only done Monday through Friday. Set up the account early in the week if you want a weekend visit.
  3. Bring a valid government photo ID: a driver’s license, state ID, passport or military ID.
  4. Anyone under 18 must come with an adult. Children 12 and older need a school ID or a birth certificate.
  5. Follow the dress code. No bare shoulders, low cut tops, bare midriffs, short skirts or shorts, or see through clothing. Staff can end or refuse a visit.

Attorneys, probation officers and bondsmen authorized by the 18th Judicial District use a separate professional visit schedule.

Where do I send mail to an inmate?

General mail does not go to Elm Street. Address letters and photos like this:

  • JailATM
  • Sedgwick County Adult Detention KS
  • Inmate name and inmate number
  • P.O. Box 16120
  • Jonesboro, AR 72401

Letters and photos are scanned and shown to the inmate digitally. The paper copy is destroyed after 60 days unless you include a self addressed stamped envelope to get originals back.

What gets returned:

  • Mail with no return address on the outside
  • Greeting cards and anything glued
  • Packages and parcels of any kind
  • Cash, money orders and cashier’s checks
  • An envelope addressed to more than one inmate

Two things still go straight to the jail at 141 W Elm, Wichita, KS 67203: legal mail, and paperback books sent directly by the publisher or the store. The limit is two paperbacks a week.

If the person is being housed in another county’s jail, the Sheriff says to send mail directly to that facility.

How do I put money on an inmate’s account?

Phone time and commissary both come out of the inmate’s account.

  • Lobby kiosk at 141 W Elm. Open 24 hours a day. It takes cash and cards, and funds post right away. Cash deposits carry a fee of at least $3.25. Card deposits cost $3.25 or 10% of the deposit, whichever is greater.
  • JailATM online. Card deposits and commissary orders.

The inmate’s name and number are on the Sedgwick County inmate search. The jail’s automated information line is 316-660-5245. Our guide to a Sedgwick County Jail release explains how to pick up keys or a wallet from someone still in custody.

A phone account or a bond?

Run the numbers before you load an account for a long stay. On a $2,500 bond, Kansas law sets the minimum bondsman premium at $250, with $125 due before the bond is posted. A person who is home can keep a job, meet with a lawyer in private and speak freely. None of that is possible on a recorded line.
