Bail bonds in Maize are handled in downtown Wichita, about 12 miles southeast of Maize City Hall. Maize has its own police department and its own municipal court, but people arrested there are booked at the Sedgwick County Adult Detention Facility, 141 W Elm. Once the bond is posted and the person is home, a city case goes back to Maize Municipal Court, which typically meets on Wednesdays at 4 p.m. This page explains the booking, the three ways to post bond and what to expect at that first Wednesday in court.
Case Bail Bonds is at 705 N Broadway in Wichita, three blocks from the jail. We answer (316) 900-1667 around the clock.

Where does a Maize arrest go?
The Sedgwick County Sheriff states that the detention facility books inmates for all Sedgwick County municipalities. Maize is in Sedgwick County, so the answer is the same for an arrest by Maize Police on Maize Road, by a deputy on 53rd Street North or by a trooper on K-96.

How do bail bonds in Maize work? 3 ways to post
Bond on a city charge has to be set quickly. K.S.A. 12-4213 requires it within 18 hours of the person being placed in custody. The court meeting once a week does not slow that down.
1. Release on a signature
No money changes hands. The Sheriff allows it for people who live in the metro area, and Sedgwick County is on that list. It is the booking sergeant’s decision, and it is less likely with a prior missed court date or an open warrant. After a DUI arrest there is a wait for a sober adult, or up to four hours of observation. See OR bond in Sedgwick County.
2. Cash
Pay the full bond at the jail. If every court date is kept, it is refunded after the case, less fines and costs. The receipt is issued in the name of the person who pays.
3. A bondsman
A bondsman posts the bond for a premium. K.S.A. 22-2809b sets the minimum at 10% of the bond, with at least half of that paid before the bond is posted. The bondsman signs at the jail in person.
| Bond | Minimum premium | Minimum due before posting |
|---|---|---|
| $250 | $25 | $12.50 |
| $1,000 | $100 | $50 |
| $2,500 | $250 | $125 |
| $10,000 | $1,000 | $500 |
Whichever way you choose, read the conditions on the paperwork. On a charge that would be a person offense, K.S.A. 12-4301 bars contact with the alleged victim for at least 72 hours.
Maize Municipal Court: when and where
The City of Maize publishes these details.
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Location | Maize City Hall, 10100 W Grady Avenue, Maize, KS 67101 |
| Mailing address | P.O. Box 245, Maize, KS 67101 |
| Phone | 316-722-8736 |
| Court sessions | Typically the first four Wednesdays of each month at 4 p.m. |
| Cases | Traffic infractions, misdemeanor offenses and code violations under city ordinances |
A 4 p.m. docket helps people who work a day shift. It also means a parent may need to arrange child care for the late afternoon.
Payments can be made in person at City Hall during business hours, by mail with a check or money order, or through the city’s online payment site. The city says payments must be received by the due date on the citation or court paperwork to avoid added fees.
What happens at your first court date in Maize?

The city describes the procedure in plain terms. A defendant has the right to be heard and to present evidence. At the first appearance you can:
- Represent yourself
- Hire an attorney
- Ask for a continuance
Then comes the plea.
| Plea | What follows |
|---|---|
| Guilty | Fines and court costs are assessed |
| No contest | Fines and court costs are assessed |
| Not guilty | The case may be set for trial before the Municipal Court Judge |
Think before pleading guilty just to be done with it. A conviction for DUI, theft or battery in a city court counts as a prior under state law the next time. If you are unsure, ask for a continuance and talk to a lawyer. We can refer you to local attorneys.
