Bail Bonds in Bel Aire, KS: Court Once a Month and 4 Steps to Release

Bail bonds in Bel Aire KS and the Bel Aire Municipal Court monthly schedule

Bail bonds in Bel Aire are posted in downtown Wichita, where Bel Aire arrests are booked. The city sits on the northeast edge of Wichita, inside Sedgwick County, and the county jail at 141 W Elm books people for every municipality in the county. Bel Aire’s own court meets just once a month, on the first Wednesday, with trials on the third Thursday. That is a sparse schedule, so a missed date here has a long wait attached. This page explains the four steps to release and how the court works.

Case Bail Bonds is at 705 N Broadway in Wichita, three blocks from the jail. Call (316) 900-1667 at any hour.

4 steps to release after a Bel Aire arrest

1. Find the booking

The Sedgwick County Sheriff states that the Adult Detention Facility books inmates for all Sedgwick County municipalities. Search the name on the Sheriff’s lookup. Our Sedgwick County inmate search page links to it. The jail’s automated line is 316-660-5245.

2. Read each line

Every charge has its own line and bond amount, and the total is the sum. A dollar figure can be posted. Cash only must be paid in full. A $0.00 line is explained in what no bond means in Sedgwick County.

3. Choose how to post

Way Cost Notes
Own recognizance $0 A Bel Aire address is inside the metro area the Sheriff requires. The booking sergeant decides
Cash The full bond Refunded after the case, less fines and costs
Bondsman At least 10% of the bond At least half of that is paid before posting
Bond Minimum premium Minimum due before posting
$250 $25 $12.50
$500 $50 $25
$2,000 $200 $100
$7,500 $750 $375

K.S.A. 22-2809b sets those minimums. See how much a bond costs in Kansas for other amounts and OR bond in Sedgwick County for signature release.

4. Pick up at 141 W Elm

Release happens at the county jail in Wichita. After a DUI arrest, a person released on a signature has to wait for a sober adult or up to four hours of observation. Our guide to a Sedgwick County Jail release covers ID and property.

With court only once a month, the bond does not wait for the next docket. On a city charge, K.S.A. 12-4213 requires bond to be set within 18 hours of custody, and a person held 48 hours after a warrantless city arrest with no court appearance must be released on personal recognizance.

Paying a Bel Aire fine: watch the fees

Bel Aire is specific about payment fees, which is useful to know before you choose how to pay.

How you pay Fee
Cash or check, in person at the Police Department inside City Hall None
Credit card 3.95%, with a $2.50 minimum, effective August 1, 2025
Online portal, under $100 $1.00 processing fee
Online portal, $100 or more $2.50 processing fee

People who are not required to appear in court may pay online. On a $300 fine, the card fee is $11.85. Cash or a check costs nothing extra.

A fine is not a bond. A bond gets a person out of jail and comes back or is released when the case ends. A fine is the penalty after a plea or a finding of guilt.

What a once a month court means for you

Situation Why the schedule matters
You bonded out with a Bel Aire court date It may be weeks away. Put it in your phone and confirm it with the clerk
You miss the first Wednesday The next regular court day is a month later, and a warrant can be issued in the meantime
You want a trial Trials are on the third Thursday
You are on bond for a month or more Every bond condition applies that whole time

That last row matters to cosigners. A cosigner’s responsibility lasts until the case is closed, which takes longer in a court that sits once a month. Read bail bond cosigner responsibilities.

To confirm a date, call the clerk. Our guide on how to check a court date in Sedgwick County lists the other courts’ numbers too.

Shoplifting and DUI in a city court

The city names both as cases its court hears, so two points from state law are worth knowing.

Shoplifting. Theft under $1,500 is a misdemeanor, but K.S.A. 21-5801 makes a theft of $50 or more a felony for a person with two or more theft convictions in the past five years. A quick guilty plea in a city court can matter years later. See theft bail bonds in Wichita.

DUI. A driver has 14 days from the officer’s notice to request a license hearing, no matter which court has the criminal case. City DUI convictions count toward a second or third offense under K.S.A. 8-1567. See DUI bail bonds in Wichita.
